i thought that sam had a aquired a jupiter 6 from somewhere unless its gone now
interesting stuff though x
Actually yeah youre right. looking at the focker video the synth in front of sam is a Jupiter 6. but theyve been pictured with the other synths too.....they have a hell of a lot! also im pretty sure that they use the creamware for the main focker melody, probably through a distortion pedal to get that CRUNCH.
and mynameis liz, yes i do. my friends regularly shun me for commenting on the panning of tracks. like the panning in the breakdown of focker. god erol is a genius!

^ That is the sampler late of the pier use. it is actually used by potter in most of the songs. it is nothing like a synthesizer in that rather than creating its own sounds, you save sounds to it (either individual notes, short sound clips, or short melodies). these sounds can be assigned to the 16 grey pads you can see in the picture. pressing one of these will cause the sound assigned to it to play.
in my opinion this is the reason late of the pier have such a versatile sound. potter can use it to play melody notes, such as the main riff to bathroom gurgle.....or he can play short snatches of "sound FX" such as the weird percussion sounds in the bears are coming. And anything in between.
in this video the high melody parts are being played on the sampler. they have been recorded onto it probably through computer or CD. its then used to play the aggressive "DUH DUH"s at the end of the video. this shows its versatility.
sorry for the marathon message.......hope it clears that up for you!

good shout! thats definitely a MIDI keyboard....but what its hooked up to i dont know. the sound hes playing off it sounds very Roland....so it may be hooked up to the Juno or Jupiter but played here for the sake of ease and stage positions.

yuuss, seems like a good idea
is that a juno 60 in your photo?
SCORE
i have a juno 6
this thread is so nerdy that i naturally love it. I want to get a sampler to go with my theremin and mini accordion and ukelele and guitars and keyboard, but i'm having difficulty housing it all in my very small room. also, i have no money. and i want to get cubase and reason and hook them up to eachother. and get a laptop especially to run cubase and reason.
this is so off topic. sorry.

samplers are TRES useful
if you are doing live stuff.
yeah, i use cubase to compose and sequence at school and i love it. apart from all those horrible midi noises. ewww. I suppose I don;t actually NEED a sampler thanks to not being a live musician, but you never know. I've been m,eaning to record some songs.
p.s. cool music. i was just playing it and now my mum's humming the twinkly xylophoney bit from disco teepee tales. haha.
Can someone explain the correlation with vintage musical instrument boards and cats? First Copycats, now Magpied... well, explain the fascination with cats in the first place?
By the way, excellent info everyone is sharing. I haven't the slightest about any of this information, but it sounds good to me!
I used Cubasis VST 5 I think to compose my gcse coursework, it was fun, except there were only 4 VST tracks allowed, and it was very slow, but I'm getting a copy of it so I can compose with my new micro korg

the roland SPs are good
i have an SP 404, about £200, but cheaper alternatives are the
SP 303
it has effects and stuff, which are useful
or the SP 202
which appears to be pretty basic, but apparently pretty sweet
if they use compacflash memory cards like my one, then its a bloody good byte to second ratio. I think a 1gb memory card is 200 or so minutes
I';ve never been on a forum before where so many people would post in a techie thread. usually it would be 3 people while everyone else observes in disgust and confusion.
