I'll probably get thrown off for saying this, right?

but... BOY are they ever SO not good.

If this is supposed to be the future, why does it sound so much like The Cure when they had that worrying mid-80s wobble?

Drummer's alright, though. Too bad he doesn't have anything more interesting going on around him.

james ford drummed for most of the album

that's cuz he's hard core.

I find klaxon's first album boring, I'm just waiting to see what new stuff they come up with

but I'm not waiting with baited breath

James Ford, huh? Like the Last Shadow Puppets aren't bad enough? For such a good drummer, he sure has shit tastes in bands.

I couldn't last a whole Klaxons track, I just went and put Stereolab back on.

Jamie said early next year on NVM The Buzzcocks the other day, so I'm keeping my hopes up that it won't be long

OK, it's not hatred, that's far too strong a word. I just find them dull and, well, find the adulation of them perplexing.

I mean, am I missing something? If I am, please explain to me what it is that you find so great or appealing about them.

Because they are often mentioned hand in hand with LOTP and I find that mystifying. (It did actually put me off investigating LOTP for some time.)

The first time I heard a LOTP song I was just utterly sucked in, by the energy and the excitement, and this feeling that, literally, at any moment ANYTHING could happen. Like the songs were these endless unfolding surprises that just really kept me hooked to see what on earth they would come up with next.

Klaxons just couldn't hold my attention long enough to get to the end of the song.

What am I failing to hear or see? Explain to me, please.

Hah! If I wasn't starting uni I was actually gonna go to Holland to see them and stay with my friend (Immy on this very board I believe!) because I'd just been paid enough to fund six journeys there and back, I wanted to be there for the first playing of their new material - now that is fanboying to the max.

When I first heard Gravity's Rainbow and Atlantis it was just mindblowing, as Hewett said there really wasn't much like it around at the time. There still isn't, really.

i remember the old version of Totem on the Timeline they once had, the slower version. that must've been a really long time ago.

now cue the 'i knew them the day they formed bragging match...

oh, and something that really, really annoys me. the uber-hipsters who STILL call them 'Klaxons Not Centaurs'
