never seen them live, wish i could.
i'd heard one song, and just bought the xan valleys ep in hmv one day like years ago on the back of it. album was alright, not worthy of all the prizes it got though. really love 'forgotten works'
Their album's good, and for a while I thought it was great, but it was apparently just a fleeting thing. They don't seem to have any new material whatsoever, and I doubt they'll write anything along the lines of Gravity's Rainbow or Atlantis to Interzone again, just because they have this magic of a newly-formed band about them. I don't know for sure but I think those were the first two songs they wrote, along with Four Horsemen. Anyway, my point is now that they're under pressure to write a good (and good-selling) second album, they won't come up with material like that.
So I have very little hope for a good second album. ut who knows, they might surprise me.

used to LOVE them, and still like to listen to a song every now and then, but yeah like someone said before me, they need new material, and it needs to be mindblowing.
i'll be interested to see what they come up with.

It's because they've only been cranking out covers, no real new material since the fantastic Electrickery over a year ago now...the only talk of what's to come is whispers of lame collaborations like the Chavs album and the Jamie/Lily project, not to mention the awful Rihanna stunt.
When they get back to their own material it'll be great, as I absolutely adore every single song that they wrote themselves. I think they can totally outdo themselves on the second LP if they don't try for any gimmicks and just write some decent tunes again...hopefully none of the songs will feature some sort of up-and-coming British rapper like EVERY OTHER INDIE BAND right now.
Electrickery was great. Did anyone ever figure out the lyrics to that? It seemed indecipherable. Anywho, Erol Alkan should producre their album, it would be magic(k LOLZ).
The problem is that most of the newer stuff on the first album, while arguably at least up to the standards of the older stuff,.... this is hard to explain... I don't think I would have got into Klaxons as much if the first songs they released were, say, As Above, So Belowe or Isle of Her. They don't have the same magic to them that Gravity's and Atlantis do.
Do you know I had never knowingly heard them until about 2 weeks ago, when they came on the radio at about 2am while being driven home in the back of a van.
I still couldn't tell you what they actually sound like. Which isn't a very promising sign.
I suppose I might as well watch the link and see if I can find out.

It's absolutely brilliant is what it is, wish there was a better quality one. There's also a new song called Moonhead but no bootlegs just yet. I'm wetting my pants over these songs right now, not coming back to the UK til spring though urghhhh
