& i didn't find out that they were playing there till about a week ago i want to go so ridiculously bad, but i don't have a badge...
I wish their venue would let non SXSW goers pay to see the show...
Well, they aren't very known here so you may still get in if you show up early and pay at the door. It's worth a shot!.. espically for the Wednesday night one since Wednesday is typically less crowded than the weekends. I was able to see some obscure UK bands in the past years that way.
Aw, you have no reason to be jealous, beccatron. I'll be WORKING at the festival and won't get to see most of the bands I want to see, LOTP being at the top of that list!
!! !!! !!! i saw them at the sxsw show last night. they were mental (not as peculiar as they usually are unfortunately-- but still, it was lovely!)
Sweet. I'm going to see them tomorrow (well, later today) during their Filter Magazine Party show... the only time I'll be able to see them since I'm working at a venue for the festival. Looking forward to it!
Yes! That's the show I saw them at. They sounded really good. Then the security wanted to cut them off before they could play their last song (Bathroom Gurgle) which upset the band's soundguy/helper person who the bouncers were quite rude too and they started pushing each other on the stairs next to the stage. Before you know it, the LOTP lead singer, Sam, runs off the stage mid-song and jumps on the bouncers to help. The band continued playing it instrumental for a while and the backing volcalist/synth player (sorry, bad with names) says "We're going to finish the song just because they don't want us to" or something along those lines. Eventually Sam comes back onto the stage and they finish the song to a MUCH greater crowd reaction. They had pulled off both of his mics, but the backing vocalist/synth player's mic was still there so he used that one to finish singing the song.
Was pretty cool! Their set for the day show was:

the crowd was quite dull to be honest
(but late of the pier were amazingggg of course...)
i don't have satellite/direct tv or whatever it's broadcasting from-- so i can't watch it on the tv...

but they've become quite infamous for this incident--
i'm rather jealous you witnessed it, FireSka.
(but i saw them twice that week-- so i guess i really shouldn't complain....)
