That bass is PRETTY!!!! What a lovely colour. I haven't seen any guitars that aren't Daisy Rock that colour. (I worship at the altar of Daisy Rock - their guitars actually sound really good as well as being really easy to play.)

Waaah, I want drums lurking in the corner of my attic. I feel like the only person in the world that doesn't have a drumkit lurking in the corner of my attic. (Or maybe I have just spent too much time looking at pics of Sam's bedroom trying to figure out what type of gear he used. Oh god I've become a gearstalker. Shoot me.)

I was looking at eBay today trying to figure out how much it would cost to get a real drumkit... but then I got distracted by the best synth in the world.

I want to learn an instrument, what's the best way to go about doing this without having to spend money?

And,
what instrument?

Sel, bass is the instrument to play if you can't be bothered to "learn how to play" an instrument.

And I say that as someone who was a bassist for many many years. They're easy to learn, but also interesting enough that you can spend many years mastering them. I think it's the quickest pick up to fun ratio.

My brother is just NOT musical at all. No one is musical in my family except my dad and he's a total folkies - I can remember when I came home with my first synth (a Roland Juno 6 - same one I got distracted by on eBay) he practically tore his hair out at OH NOES THE SQUAREWAVES!!! and wouldn't let me run through his stereo. I played it on headphones for 6 months until I'd saved up enough to get a cheap Peavy practice amp.

OK, I can't complain, because my parents were quite tolerant, in terms, of they let me turn the ballroom into a rehearsal studio. And I did have my friend Michel's drumkit left in there for about 2 years. But it was leftie, so the problem was, I learned how to play drums left handed. And I've spent the rest of my life trying to unlearn it to do it properly.

My family are all big into PHOTOGRAPHY which I am totally useless at. I kept being handed down these amazing cameras from my dad and my bro and I'm just useless with them.

CAN I SELL THEM AND BUY GUITAR PEDALZ is kind of what I feel like.

This was ages ago! They gave up on trying to make a photographer of me. They know I am useless. I only have the one camera now! And it is point and shoot digital thing.

And I need that for, like, my artists models and stuff.

And taking random photos of my studio and posting them to the interweb, natch.

about half the stuff me and my friend louis own,
besides that we have a
Korg poly 61,
Roland electric drum kit,
a soundcraft mixer,
yamaha djx,
several other yamaha/casio keyboards,
a antonia rockstar guitar,
and two broken squiers.

we're also getting a free drum kit next week and probably purchasing a casio cz 5000./

so it's almost a studio!

Thought I might burst this thread alive again

I got my first synthesizer today!!

its a Korg R3

and weirdly the first patch and twiddling of some knobs i found the exact sound Faley gets out of his Roland for his synth part in BITC

which is perfect, as me and my friend are covering it in a school concert, him on Faley synth part, me on Sam's synth and vocals parts.

And my Nintendo DS on potters synths and drums :P

and amazingly Ive recreated potters synths very well.
If it gets filmed ill try and let you all see the calamity

First post here :). I play guitar (3 1/2 years), Piano (2 years) and harmonica (1 year).

My gear:
Guitars: Epiphone LP JR '57 reissue w/p90.
Homeade tube amp.

Yamaha prs-240 and another Yamaha keyboard, nothing fancy.

Numerous Marine bands and Special 20's haha.

I'm trying to decide on picking up a bass or a synth next.

The triangle, took me a couple of days. It was really hard to get the 'ding' on tune but once you got it, you got it ;)

Well what bands do you like and what music would you play?

My alltime favorite band is the Beatles, I've been obsessed with them for 3 or 4 years now :P . But I also like bands like Radiohead, LotP (duh) and the Rapture. I'd play most things like Synthpop/punk, Dance Punk and electronic music, like DnB.

As of now, I'm leaning towards a Synth. Probably an Alesis Micron to start me out.
